About Me ...

"As I get older, and especially since having children, I have a huge personal need to stay in touch with my roots and pass on this culture  to my children. Currently they carry neither my surname nor my birth citizenship. My culture is the only thing I can pass on.  In so doing, I hope that one day, they too will want to give back to this beautiful  country that has helped shaped them to who they are today."

Chamilka Jayawardana (affectionately known as CJ to all those around her) is a Professional Photographer based in Melbourne Australia. Accredited with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), Chamilka founded CJ Photography in 2010, which specialises in Maternity, Newborn, Children and Family Portraiture. Her photography aims to capture authenticity, feeling and above all stories - intangible things that can be revisited long after the moment has passed. Her children have been the main inspiration for her hard work and dedication to growing her business.

An equally personal driving force behind her second venture, CJ Photo Escapes, has been her cultural background and her desire to give back to the country she was born and lived in during her early years. Fluent in English and spoken Singhalese, CJ has chosen to combine her love for photography along with her love for Sri Lanka and its beautiful people, to share with the astute traveler this quaint part of the world through the eyes of the lens.

Having extensively traveled around Sri Lanka, CJ has priviledged access to local culture and photo opportunities. She will act as your personal photography tutor as well cultural liaison in this off-the-beaten track experience, all with your comfort in mind. Her aim of these tours is to make the locals' ordinary become your extraordinary so you can be inspired along the way, both for your photography and ultimately your own outlook on life.
